This paper will provide the educational, theoretical knowledge necessary to develop prescribing competencies for the role of the Registered Nurse Prescriber. A component of the paper will include clinical experience within the students workplace with oversight from a prescribing mentor. The completion of this paper will enable students who meet the other Nursing Council of New Zealand requirements for a RN prescribing scope of practice to apply for endorsement.
